I had my taxes done today. I did not realize that I was responsible for the Fed taxes in the TPP payments. I just re-read the documents they gave me on July 9. I guess when I originally read it, I was not comprehending it. I hate Gannett. They took out the state tax, but could not take out the Federal? Now I owe the Feds $577 on the the puny payments they gave me. Damn.

I checked my W-2 from Norton, MA (TMS) and the numbers are correct. They only took out NJ tax from my supplement checks. I saved all my pay stubs from them and the totals are all correct. Obviously if you got the TPP payments it is a separate W-2 statement from Gannett. As usual we will most likely get our regular W-2 statement from them at the last possible moment at the end of this month. :)

This morning TMS returned my call. For anyone who needs to speak with the company, have your six-digit TMS ID number on hand since that's how the person pulled up my records.

Something tells me I'd better hang onto this paperwork for a few years after I complete my taxes. The person on the phone explained the supplemental pay IS counted as wages on a tax form however it is NOT counted as wages insofar as unemployment benefits are concerned. I suppose this is why we were told to say "no" early on when we were asked if we received vacation or holiday pay each we we claimed benefits and also received supplemental pay.

Only state and federal taxes are withheld (no Social Security, etc.) from the supplemental pay. That was the discrepancy I asked about, and it was explained. Hope this helps anyone who has questions.

I found the direct deposit stubs and all the information from this summer and will call TMS Tuesday a.m. There is a discrepancy between the amount listed on the W-2 form and the total amount deposited in my checkbook. Paper trail!

Mine came in the mail today, and the numbers are off by about $30. Do I call HR at my former office, TJN, or look up Gannett in Norton, MA, where the forms originated?
