I know, makes me wonder what other mistakes they'll be making with the payments.

TMS... I think they have 2 or 3 people working there. Who knows, they might be outsourcing too!
One woman who answers the phone acts like you are bothering her! (Helen) and the other I finally spoke to last Friday was very polite and helpful but did not tell me what I wanted to hear. (Lori)
Has anybody else encountered this problem:
Last Friday I contacted TMS for the 4th time about the difference of $24 between my actual UI benefit and the estimated UI benefit on the TMS paperwork. I even sent them a pdf of the statement from NJ umemployment stating my actual benefit which is as I said above $24 less than the estimated by TMS on July 9th. Well, last week's phone call finally netted their answer. That the $25 we all receive from the Feds for every UI week is my difference. In other words, Gannett will not be responsible for that $24! Is this legal? Can Gannett opt out of fullfilling the correct total of my base pay that they should be paying in the weekly TPP payment?
Has anyone else encountered this with TMS and Gannett? Please let me and others know. Thanks!

My former colleague got axed in July. He has STILL not received any unemployment. I wonder if it is due to the wonderful "transitional" pay? Here where we live if you are receiving any money from your ex employer you are ineligible for unemployment.

Hey Stoop

Because it's considered unemployment compensation (of sorts) your not supposed to say anything about it when you file your claim or answer your weekly questions regarding income. Its part of the package. Maybe thats why you or your friends unemployment is messed up.

I have had no problem at all with TMS. They are always pleasant and helpful and my check is always deposited on time. God knows I hate to admit that anything associated with Gannett has been OK, but thats the truth.

So the answer is to lie and commit a felon?

Again, Stoop

No one is lying or committing a felon. The supplement from TMS is as a part of your unemployment benefits as your unemployment benefits are part of your severance package. Its one and the same.

Here in NYS the DOL pays an extra $25 if people want to have tax taken from their UI benefits.

Well, I have NJ UI take 10% tax out of my check. So, my check is not that large. I was pitifully paid when I worked for Gannett. So, that $24 would have made a difference and now they are saying the $25 from the Feds is the difference. That was suppose to be a supplement so to speak. It seems you will never come out ahead with Gannett! On a brighter note, I finally received my pension paper work and mailed it out yesterday, rolling over the entire amount into a IRA. To hell with them! (Gannett) Take what I can get from them, before it runs out! :P

How long did it take for you to get your pension?

Still waiting on the check for the rollover. Just sent in the paper work, (form and waiver) to get the check. Will let you know when the check arrives. I suspect a few weeks, knowing them.

I opted not to have 10% tax taken from my UI check (here in NY) since that was an option when I signed up; I'll worry about that when I do taxes next spring. When I called TMS the person who answered the phone was polite and explained the process to me so maybe things will go smoothly - with this, at least.

Hey fellow X-Gannetters from July 2009 layoff. Did you receive your W-2 form? I only got one showing the TPP $$ payments from TMS income today. That's all! What gives? Is the regular wages going to be a separate W-2? Anyone know anything :?:

I got mine, too, and it was nly the TPP payments. The numbers are off by about $30. Are yours accurate? I think there may be a separate W-2; otherwise I have a boatload of tax refund money coming to me. :D

Sorry for double posts. I answered my own question in another post and will call TMS Tuesday.
