Gannett paper too dumb to catch "The Finger" on Pg. 1!
On Saturday, the Gannett newspaper in Chillicothe Ohio had egg on its face when it ran a large, page one photo from the previous night's local high school homecoming "royalty court" and lo and behold, apparently FOUR (4)! of the boys in this HS homecoming court were giving the photographer the old "we're #1 finger" and it wasn't the index finger!
Hahahahahaha
Anyway, the kids got suspended from school Monday, the story made the local TV stations... the newspaper editors claimed they didn't notice the obscene gestures until after the paper was printed....
But the Chillicothe paper pulled the photo from its website, according to the news reports.
Too bad they couldn't pull the photo from the front page. How embarrassing. How typical.

The Associated Press has the story here:

Gannett has not owned up to it - at least I've not seen one story with a Gannett byline own up to it . Do you suppose the photo editor intentionally used the photo? What happened to careful editing?

Oh come on, why would they run that intentionally? Standards still apply, even if quality has declined.

I thoughts standards included admitting mistakes a.k.a. corrections.

I found the cached version of the page with the photo on it. But it looks to me like both their pointer and middle fingers are extended. (Click the magnifying glass for a larger view.)

Actually, I think it was some "new" obscene teen sign.
Too bad no one at the paper is up on current events or trends....
After all, they just work for a newspaper!

Some of the most classical date venues are taking someone out for dinner, going to the cinema
