Scooped again

Scooped again

It's bad enough both the Journal News and Poughkeepsie Journal have been reduced to glorified pamphlets. They are also not even competitive any more in breaking news.

First the NY Post scooped the Journal News in reporting the Clintons are buying a mansion in Chappaqua.

Now, the tiny Hudson Valley News scoops both the Journal News and Poughkeepsie Journal in reporting Chelsea's wedding will be in Rhinebeck.

As if that's not enough, today a near tornado hit Northern Westchester. It was described as a "disaster area" by cops. This happened at 5. Journal News/Lohud had nothing on the web site till aroun 10:30 at night. Why even bother?

It wasn't a "near tornado" either. Here in Vista we not only were pelted with one inch hail, but something much more violent. After the first storm passed we went out to find that the storm, which had evidently some rotation in it, had sucked up a bunch of the kind of white marble chips that people use around homes and for drainage. It had dropped its load of stones along with the hail on our roofs. We lost power from 5:06 PM until 5 this morning. Of course no mention of this in LoHud.

LoHud not only is devoid of any timely news. Whatever stories are posted are haunted by legions of libelous trolls whose racist posts are mostly tolerated. If you're a sane person, you are not likely to allow yourself to be associated with the site.

What a sad end for a once highly-regarded news source.

The paper has spiraled downward for years. The Systems & Technology department was handed to the still unemployed John "Whoville" Parish. The people he hired after he got the position were back-benchers and helped divide a once great department into a fractioned joke. Too bad. The paper used to be good. And, it's not all his fault, their lousy management in the Newsroom with Henry, Cindy and Larry have helped turned it into a flyer-like newsletter. As I cancel my newly raised subscription rate, I'll take that money and subscribe to the NY Post. No, there are people who will still subscribe. They just don't want to be crapped on repeatedly.

Talk about still unemployed. Abusive former sports editor Susie Arth has been reduced to writing police blotters for a local town website after being shown the door a year and a half ago after being finally fired for anger management issues and numerous employee complaints to HR.
