Wisconsin group
Re: Wisconsin group
Wisconsin is not done by a long shot. There's still some reorganzation to be done at least in the east group. No one at my site is sleeping easy yet.

Re: Wisconsin group
Mark Baldwin was regional executive editor over the four central sites and GM of Stevens Point. If they cut Linda Taylor (ME) and demoted him to editor/GM of Stevens Point ONLY that would be a big hit for that pompous ass. he should go back to teaching because that's what people do when they can't do.

The only finance that is moving at this time in WI is the accounts payable group, that change is in the works now. In addition, the group finance department in WI actually lost 3 people yesterday throughout the state.

Re: Wisconsin group
Here is the Green Bay story about its cuts: http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/article/20090710/GPG03/90710009
The 19 people include the five aforementioned cuts at Green Bay's weekly papers plus Green Bay's prepress director and classified ad director.
Five other are from the Green Bay newsroom: managing editor Barbara Janesh, assistant opinion editor Terry Anderson, business editor Bob Van Enkenvoort, librarian Diane Robb and copy editor Christopher Heimerman.
Don't know where the other seven cuts were.

Here is the AP story about the publisher-level changes in the eastern Wisconsin group.

It says nothing about central Wisconsin group changes, or about other layoffs in either group.

Re: Wisconsin group
From an anonymous tipster:
Is this three additional, or is it 16 for Green Bay and 3 for Kewaunee County News?
please list Kewaunee County News separate from Green Bay Press Gazette. We lost 3. Thanks

An accurate count is 14 for Green Bay Press-Gazette, 3 for Kewaunee County News and 2 for Door County Advocate. The latter two are weeklies.

Re: Wisconsin group
Boy king Jonathan Gneiser, all of 29, named GM/editor in Marshfield. Gneiser was already editor. Former GM Matt Wolk sent packing.
Wouldn't get too comfortable in that corner office, Jonny, not that you'll have time.

Re: Wisconsin group
Or will Wolk remain GM of the Rapids site as he has been sine Helen Jungwerth "retired"?

Re: Wisconsin group
Nope. Allen Hicks, 34, already editor in WR, also made editor/GM.
Wolk out due to "restructuring," yeah, um-hmm. Don't think it'll be long before Gannett unveils "Central Wisconsin Today" produced by three people in Wausau, which I called five years ago when it was obvious this cluster was already going in the tank.

Central Wisconsin Today
I recall a former coworker talking about a regional paper in the works when the first talks of consolidating the Ad Services departments started.
More and more it appears headed in that direction.

Re: Wisconsin group
So someone on Gannettblog states that Beck has NOT been shown the door, but demoted to GM of Wausau only?
Anyone have anything to confirm this?

I just got back.
5 Years ago you say? I recall a number of people saying the same thing.
Any more news on other departmental changes? Last I knew the Marshfield Retail Sales manager was pulling double duty with WR. Is this planned to continue?

So when does the East group start producing just one Sunday section?
Or combine Oshkosh-Appleton, Sheboygan-Fond du Lac and Manitowoc-Green Bay?
