TRACKING LAYOFFS
Newspaper-by-newspaper information
Below is a list of states with Gannett newspapers, a list of those papers and information from previous layoff counts on the Gannett Blog, including how many layoffs were at that paper in previous moves.
This page is a work in progress. Numbers from previous layoffs are still not available for many papers. For the numbers that are listed, the total numbers of employees at sites are mostly estimates, from previous lists on Gannett profile pages, published articles, submitted information to this site and the Gannett Blog.
If you have something to contribute, please submit it in the form at the bottom of this page, e-mail news@gannettoid.com or visit the Gannettoid Forum.

Cincinnati Enquirer publisher Margaret Buchanan wrote in a memo, "I would estimate that as many as 100 employees will be affected," at the Enquirer.
Steve Silberman, publisher of the Statesman Journal in Oregon, said "a handful of jobs" will be eliminated by July 9. The Statesman Journal employs 252.
Jim Strauss, publisher of the Great Falls Tribune in Montana said there would be no layoffs at his paper. "I attribute that to the local economy holding up better than the nation as a whole and also to the strong efforts of the staff," he said.
